Our COVID-19 Response Plan
The health and safety of our instructors and the families we serve are of the utmost importance to us. With this in mind, the coronavirus pandemic has drastically changed how we are offering our classes. We will always abide by state and CDC recommendations to ensure exposure is reduced. Here is what we are doing to keep our classes safe:
Online Classes Will Remain Available - Throughout the summer, we will continue to offer live-streamed classes on Zoom for families that prefer distance learning.
Limited In-Person Class Size - Class size will be limited to 5 couples max. All class attendees will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and possible exposure prior to being allowed into the building.
Physical Distancing During Class - Each couple will be provided with their own standard-size card table at which to sit for the duration of the class, and tables will be kept a minimum of 6 feet apart from each other. All surfaces will be disinfected before and after class.
Masks Are Required - Research shows that transmission of the coronavirus is greatly reduced when masks are worn in public settings. Due to the fact that so many people do not show symptoms when they are infected, all class participants will be required to wear their own mask covering their mouth and nose during class. These will not be provided and should be brought by class attendees.
Travel Advisory - We respectfully ask that anyone who has visited any of the states listed on the CT Travel Advisory List in the past two weeks to not attend class and reschedule as necessary.
Additional Support Persons Restricted - In the past, our classes welcomed grandparents and other support persons who were expected to have an active role during labor and caring for the baby. In order to limit the number of people in each classroom, we are no longer able to have anyone other than the expecting parents and instructor. However, you are still welcome to have family members "sit in" virtually through Facetime.
No In-Person Maternity Tours - At this time Yale-New Haven Hospital has stopped all in-person tours of the maternity floors and are offering webinar tours instead. Please visit ynhh.org/events to find upcoming dates and to register.
